The provisions of §§ 150.001 et seq. shall not be interpreted to require that the owner of a single-family dwelling shall be required to personally perform work for the premises occupied or to be occupied by the owner thereof on the owner's established residence. All such work shall be done in conformity with the provisions of this chapter and the rules or regulations promulgated thereunder and no work shall be done unless all permits, inspections, and approvals required by this chapter are secured.
