(A) There is hereby levied and imposed a license fee upon all persons engaged in any occupation, trade, or profession, which license fee shall be measured by and be equal to 1.5% of the gross salaries, wages, commissions, and other compensation earned by such person within the city on or after July 1, 1989.
(B) It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in or follow any occupation, trade, or profession within the city on or after July 1, 1989 without paying the license fee herein imposed.
