Any building permit shall become invalid if the work authorized by it is not commenced within six months of the permit issuance, or if the work is suspended or abandoned for a period of one year of the permit issuance, or if the work is not completed within a period of two years of the permit issuance (subject to the casualty damage time limitation set forth in Section 1313.19). However, for cause, one or more extensions of time for periods not exceeding ninety days each may be allowed by written permission of the Building Inspector.
