An applicant for a taxicab operator’s permit under the provisions of this chapter shall hold a state driver’s license, and he shall be examined within ten days following approval of his application by a person designated by the Chief of Police as to his knowledge of the provisions of this chapter, traffic regulations, and the geography of the city. If the results of the examination are satisfactory he shall be granted a permit.
