(A) Lateral transfers of Police Officers authorized. The City Council hereby authorizes lateral transfers of applicants for the position of Police Officer under the following terms and conditions:
(1) Applicants for employment through lateral transfer shall have all required qualifications of new employees in the position
of Police Officer.
(2) In addition to the foregoing, applicants for employment through lateral transfer shall:
(a) Be able to meet certification standards of the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council and the Peace Officer Professional Standards Act of 1998.
(b) Successfully complete a testing, interview and investigative process conducted by the Civil Service Commission.
(B) Lateral transfers of fire fighter authorized. The City Council hereby authorizes lateral transfers of applicants for the position of Fire Fighter under the following terms and conditions:
(1) Applicants for employment through lateral transfer shall have all required qualifications of new employees in the position of Fire Fighter. In addition, applicants must have successfully completed the Louisville Fire Department Recruit Training Class.
(2) In addition to the foregoing, applicants for employment through lateral transfer shall:
(a) Be able to meet certification standards of the Kentucky Career Fire Fighter by the Kentucky Cabinet of Public Protection.
(b) Successfully complete a testing, interview and investigate process conducted by the Civil Service Commission.
(C) Entry list.
(1) The Civil Service Commission of the city shall, at the request of the Mayor, from time to time, compile a lateral entry list of applicants for the position of Police Officer or Fire Fighter.
(2) The list shall be completed based upon a testing, interview and investigative process to be provided to the Civil Service Commission by the Mayor and the City Council, but the process shall not include the written aptitude test taken by new employee applicants for the position of Police Officer or Fire Fighter.
