(A) The erection, installation, and repair of monuments, vases and foundations is subject to the authority of the Village of Shiloh staff or other designated cemetery caretakers as assigned by the Village of Shiloh.
(B) Monument companies must contact the Village of Shiloh to request and receive permission to proceed prior to commencing with the erection, installation, and repair of any monument, vase or foundation. The Village of Shiloh will arrange for a representative to contact the monument company to arrange an agreeable time to complete work. The requests will be taken during regularly scheduled office hours. A follow up response will normally be provided within one to two business days of receipt. Village of Shiloh staff will generally be available within one to two hours of notice during normal cemetery operating hours to assist with onsite monument questions and lot location, as long as the section, lot, and grave information is provided.
(C) Monument companies shall not damage any tree or shrub during the performance of their work. Construction or excavation material or debris shall not be scattered over adjacent lots or left on the grounds any longer than necessary. All work-related rubbish and debris shall be removed to a place designated for that purpose. Work is to be confined to the lot in which they are engaged, and such additional limits as provided by the Village of Shiloh.
(D) The Village of Shiloh assumes no responsibility for the removal and/or repair of monuments that do not meet the standards specified in § 94.07.
(E) Foundations shall consist of concrete unless otherwise specified. Specific foundation dimensions are required and provided for each section.
(F) Monument material is specified for each section. Granite or bronze are approved monument materials with what material is acceptable for each cemetery section provided below in detail. Special material requests that are proven as durable and appropriate as granite or bronze are approved on an individual basis by Village of Shiloh. To maintain consistency and appearance of the cemetery, special material requests outside of granite and bronze must be extraordinary in nature to receive approval and not detract from the appearance of the cemetery grounds.
(G) (1) Section A is laid out as companion (two graves) lots. Granite grave markers for single graves shall be 24 inches in length, 12 inches in width and a maximum height of 18 inches. For double graves, markers shall be 36 inches in length, 12 inches in width, and a maximum of 18 inches in height. Foundations shall consist of concrete and be a minimum depth of 36 inches with an apron of four inches on each side of the marker and flush to the ground. Government markers are excluded from this rule.
