§ 51.37 FIRE HYDRANTS.

(A) Type "H-3" fire hydrants shall be dry barrel, compression shutoff, traffic model hydrants conforming to AWWA C 502. Main valve opening shall be 5 ¼ inch and inlet shall be six inch mechanical joint. Each hydrant shall have two 2½ inch hose nozzles and one 4½ inch pumper nozzle. Nozzle threads and operating direction shall be consistent with existing fire hydrants in the distribution system. Hydrants shall be as manufactured by Mueller or approved equal.

(B) Auxiliary gate valves shall be installed on every hydrant lead and shall include a six inch valve and box for standard hydrants. See §§ 51.35 and 51.36.

(C) Each hydrant shall have one shop coat and one field coat of a suitable exterior enamel paint of a color selected by the owner.
