(A) Ductile iron (D.I.) pipe shall be centrifugally cast in metal or sandlined molds and shall conform to ANSI A21.51/AWWA C 151 latest edition. Pipe shall be designed for a minimum of 350 psi rated water working pressure. Pipe joints shall be push-on type and conform to ANSI A21.11/AWWA C 111 unless otherwise noted on the drawings. Each length of pipe shall be marked to show manufacturer's name or trademark, pipe class, year of manufacture conforming to ANSI A21.51/AWWA C 151.
(B) Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe (steel pipe O.D.) shall conform to ANSI/ASTM D 2241 and have standard dimension ratio (SDR) 21 for Class 200 pipe PVC pipe materials shall conform to ASTM D 1784, Type 1, Grade 1, 2000 psi design stress. Pipe joints shall be single-gasket bell and spigot type, the bells being formed integrally with the pipe. PVC pipe joint gaskets shall conform to ASTM D 3139.
(C) Fittings shall be mechanical joint cast iron or ductile iron conforming to ANSI A21.53/AWWA C 153 and ANSI A21.4/AWWA C 104. Restrained joints may be used instead of mechanical joints and thrust blocking, and shall be U.S. Pipe's FIELD LOK Gasket Joint Restraint System or Meg-A-Lug as manufactured by EBAA Iron for D.I. Pipe, and Grip Ring manufactured by ROMEX Industries or Meg-A-Lug manufactured by EBAA Iron for PVC Pipe.
(D) All D.I. pipe and fittings shall have a standard thickness cement mortar lining as specified in ANSI A21.4/AWWA C 104 and a bituminous seal outside coating as specified in ANSI A21.51/AWWA C 151.
(E) Gaskets for mechanical joints and push-on joints shall conform to ANSI A21.11/AWWA C 111. Gaskets for restrained joint pipe installed in steel casing shall be FIELD LOK Gasket Joint Restraint System as manufactured by U.S. Pipe, or approved equal.
(F) Nuts and bolts shall be high strength, heat-treated cast iron. Nuts shall be hexagon, bolts shall be tee head and shall conform to ANSI A21.11/AWWA C 111.
