§ 41.031 CLEARANCE FOR VITAL EQUIPMENT
   The facility work shall be performed and conducted so as not to interfere with access to fire hydrants, fire stations, fire escapes, underground vaults, valve housings, pumping stations, and other vital equipment as designated by the Director of Public Works/City Engineer. Street clearance shall always be maintained for passage of city fire apparatus requiring a minimum of eleven (11) feet in width. A utility must remove, replace or modify, at its own expense, the installation of any of its facilities within any public way when required to do so by the city to allow it to change, maintain, repair or improve a public thoroughfare. In addition, the request of any person holding a valid building moving permit and upon sufficient notice, the utility must temporarily raise, lower or cut its wires as necessary to facilitate such move upon not less than seventy-two (72) hours advance notice. The direct expense of such temporary changes, including standby time, must be paid by the permit holder and the utility may require payment in advance.
