§ 41.030 OBSTRUCTION OF TRAFFIC
The person giving notice shall take appropriate measures to assure that during performance of the facility work, traffic conditions as near normal as possible shall be maintained at all times as to minimize inconvenience to occupants of adjoining property and to the general public. Safe crossings for two (2) lanes of vehicular traffic at all street intersections and safe crossing for pedestrians at intervals of not more than three hundred (300) feet shall be maintained. If any facility work is conducted across any public street, alley, or sidewalk, adequate crossings shall be maintained for vehicles and pedestrians. When traffic conditions permit, the Director of Public Works/City Engineer may, by written approval, authorize the closing of streets, alleys, and sidewalks to all traffic for a period of time prescribed by him if in his opinion it is necessary. The written approval may require that notice of the closing shall be given by the person performing the facility work to various public agencies and to the general public, and the written approval shall not be effective until the required notice is given.
