§ 35.066 PURPOSE.
   It is hereby declared to be the public policy of the city, that:
   (A)   The city shall recognize the Shelbyville Professional Fire Fighters Association, Local 2008, as selected by the majority of fire fighters in the bargaining unit, and that that organization shall have the right to bargain collectively in their members’ behalf.
   (B)   A reasonable, fair, and equitable method of settling disputes between fire fighters and the city shall be established in the public interest.
   (C)   In the protection of the public health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the city, fire fighters thereof should not, and will not, be accorded the right to strike. A strike will constitute a violation of this subchapter.
