Upon petition for annexation, the proposed land use of that land covered by the petition for annexation must conform to the zoning of the land covered by the petition for annexation and the zoning of the adjacent land already within the city limits. In the event the proposed land use is not in conformity with the zoned land use of the area included within the petition for annexation and/or the zoning of the adjacent land already within the city limits, a request for zone change must be submitted by the owners of the property included in the petition for annexation in accordance with those procedures as contained within the zoning ordinance 1 pertaining to zone changes.
