A. Required: No person, except those expressly exempted under Montana Code Annotated section 61-5-102, shall drive any motor vehicle upon a street or thoroughfare of this municipality unless such person has a valid license as an operator or chauffeur. (1975 Code § 10.04.460; amd. 2008 Code)
B. Unlawful Use Of License: It is a misdemeanor for any person:
1. To display or cause or permit to be displayed or have in his possession any cancelled, revoked, suspended, fictitious or altered operator's or chauffeur's license;
2. To lend his operator's or chauffeur's license to any other person or knowingly permit the use thereof by another;
3. To display or represent as one's own any operator's or chauffeur's license not issued to him;
4. To permit any unlawful use of an operator's or chauffeur's license issued to him;
5. To do any act forbidden or fail to perform any act required by this title. (1975 Code § 10.04.470)
C. Required To Be Carried; Exhibition On Demand: Every licensee shall have his operator's or chauffeur's license in his immediate possession at all times when operating a motor vehicle and shall display the same upon demand of a law enforcement officer of this municipality. However, no person charged with violating this subsection shall be convicted if he produces in court or to the office of the arresting officer an operator's or chauffeur's license theretofore issued to him and valid at the time of his arrest. D. Suspended Or Revoked License: Any person who drives a motor vehicle on any street or thoroughfare of this municipality at a time when his privilege so to do is suspended or revoked is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be subject to penalty as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code. E. Restricted Licenses: It is a misdemeanor for any person to operate a motor vehicle in any manner in violation of the restrictions imposed in a restricted license issued to him by the state. (1975 Code § 10.04.500)
