When any structure is demolished and the existing sanitary sewer lateral is not used or reused, the lateral shall be dug up by the property owner or his or her representative at the main sewer line or at the right-of-way line, plugged with a flexible elastomeric cap with a stainless steel band or "FerncoQwik Cap" (or approved equal), and abandoned. Inspection and approval of the abandonment shall be completed by the city.
