§ 840.01 LICENSE REQUIRED; FEE; EXCEPTIONS.
   No person shall stage, put on or perform any public show or exhibition for admission to which money or other reward is in any manner demanded or received, unless he or she has first obtained a license therefor from the Mayor. The fee for the license shall be $25 for each and every day or night that the exhibition or public show is staged, put on or performed. However, this section shall not apply to or include lectures on historical, literary and scientific subjects; exhibitions, concerts and entertainments given by and for the benefit of any church or benevolent institution, or by the public schools of the city; any exhibition, theatrical performance, concert or entertainment given in any church or in any theater of the city; or any concert or entertainment given or rendered by any resident of the city.
