The Chief of Police shall receive a uniform allowance the same as that received by captains in the Police Department. The Fire Chief shall receive a uniform allowance the same as that received by captains in the Fire Department. The allowance shall be paid from their respective department funds. The allowance shall be earned semi-annually and shall be paid on January 1 and July 1 of each year. Allowance, for purposes of this section, becomes effective on January 1, 1995. Any unused portion of this allowance shall be forfeited upon death, retirement or termination of employment.
