(a) All employees covered by this chapter shall be insured by the city's PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) health insurance. Employees will not be required to make contributions towards the premiums associated with this coverage, except for the appropriate deductibles, and this program will include vision and dental care programs.
(b) The city shall have the right to change insurance carriers or coverage as long as the employees retain comparable or better coverage. The Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with the appropriate insurance company or to advertise for bids for insurance if advertising for bids is deemed to be necessary.
(c) A life insurance policy in the amount of $50,000 shall be carried on each nonelective full-time city employee. The city shall pay the full cost of the $50,000 life insurance policy.
(d) The type of plan or plans chosen, the amount and extent of coverage and the time the city shall participate in payment is within the discretion of the Director of Public Service.
