(a) No person in the Village shall hunt upon any lands, pond, lake, or private waters of another, except water claimed by the riparian right of ownership in adjacent lands, or shoot, shoot at, catch, kill, injure or pursue a wild bird, wild waterfowl, or wild animal thereon without first having obtained written pem1ission of the owner, as outlined below in subsections (d) and (e), of the premises where such person is hunting.
(b) No person in the Village shall trap upon any lands, pond, lake, or private waters of another, except water claimed by the riparian right of ownership in adjacent lands, or shoot, shoot at, catch, kill, injure or pursue a wild bird, wild waterfowl, or wild animal thereon without first having obtained written permission of the owner, or the owner's authorized agent, of the premises where such person is trapping.
(c) A person who obtains the permission required under subsections (a) and/or (b) above, of this section shall carry such permission with him/her at all times when hunting and shall exhibit it upon request of a wildlife officer, constable, sheriff, deputy sheriff, police officer, other law enforcement officer, or the owner or his/her authorized agent or tenant, of the lands, pond, lake, or private waters on which the person is hunting.
(d) Hunting by nonproperty owners in the Village of Sheffield must follow the following permit procedure. The following individuals are exceptions and do not need to have a permit (Exhibit A): family members including spouses, mother and father; brother and sister; children and grandchildren when hunting with and within sight of the landowner.
(1) They must present to the Sheffield Village Police Department prior to entering the fields:
A. Copy of the permission slip for hunting on other people's land each year signed by the landowner. The permission slip from the Sheffield Village landowner shall indicate that they have advised the individual of all boundaries of their property.
B. Renters of land in Sheffield Village cannot give permission. Only landowners are able to give permission.
C. Copy of their Ohio hunting licenses and all hunting permits, as required by the State of Ohio.
D. Copy of their driver's license. If no driver's license, a Social Security Number; if no Social Security Number, a written signed statement identifying themselves.
E. Copy of their vehicle registration.
F. If intending to use an all terrain vehicle, copy of their registration for this vehicle must be provided.
(2) Once all the above requirements have been met, the Sheffield Village Police Department will give to the applicant a copy of the most recent Sheffield Village and Lorain County map and be given their permit (Exhibit A).
(3) A new permit must be applied for each calendar year.
(e) The written consent provided for in subsection (b) hereof shall be substantially in the following form:
I hereby give consent to to hunt on my property consisting of approximately acres in Sheffield Village during the gaming-hunting season of 20 . I have explained to this individual the boundaries of my property.

(f) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the third degree on the first offense and a misdemeanor of the second degree on each subsequent offense. A separate offense shall be deemed committed each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues. In addition to any other sanction imposed under Section 501.99, on a second or subsequent offense occurring within a period of three consecutive years after the date of conviction of the immediately preceding violation of that section, any firearms or other hunting implements in the possession or under the control of the offender at the time of the violation are subject to seizure in accordance with Ohio R.C. 1531.20. If the offender persists in the offense after reasonable warning or request to desist, the offender is guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree.
