141.07 INSURANCE COVERAGE.

   In addition to the compensation as established by Council, the Chief, officers and members of the Fire Department shall each be paid an amount equal to the premium for an insurance policy insuring against loss or death, to his estate, or injury to him, sustained while in the performance of duty as a member of the Fire Department. The time, manner, circumstances and conditions of the payment are such as may be provided in the contract from time to time selected. The selection of such insurance policies shall be made by the Board of Control with the right in the Mayor to substitute beneficiaries, or the Fire Chief or Assistant Chief in an emergency.

   Council shall have the power, however, to provide State industrial insurance in lieu of the above plan if the same can be obtained and, in the discretion of Council, should be had. (Ord. 64-44. Passed 4-22-64.)
