733.01 DEFINITION.
(a) As used in this chapter, “canvasser” or “solicitor” means a person performing any of the following:
(1) Seeking to obtain orders for the purchase of goods, wares, merchandise, foodstuffs, services of any kind, character or description whatever, for any kind of consideration whatever;
(2) Seeking to obtain prospective customers for application or purchase of insurance of any type, kind or publication;
(3) Seeking to obtain prospective customers for gas or electric companies or any other utility company and cable television companies; or
(4) Seeking to obtain subscriptions to books, magazines, periodicals and every other type or kind of publication.
(b) Neither “canvasser” or “solicitor”, as defined above apply to political or religious solicitation or canvassing of other free speech expression, nor does it apply to non-profit solicitation conducted by minors in connection with fund-raising or to solicitation by a newspaper carrier of customers for a newspaper for which he regularly delivers or will regularly deliver.
