1311.02 DUTIES.

   The Building Official shall receive applications and issue permits and certificates required by this Code. He shall examine buildings and premises for which permits or certificates have been issued and shall make the necessary inspections to ascertain that the provisions of law are complied with and that construction is carried on safely. He shall enforce all regulations pertaining to the erection, construction, shoring, repair, alteration, maintenance, removal, demolition, use and occupancy, and location of residential buildings, offices, mercantile buildings, workshops or factories, public or private garages, and billboard or advertising signs. He shall make a report to Council once each month, or when requested by it. For the purpose of enforcing compliance with law, to remove illegal or unsafe conditions, to secure the necessary safeguards during construction or to require adequate exit facilities in existing buildings, he shall issue such notices or orders as may be necessary.
