1311.01 APPOINTMENT.
(a) The office of Commissioner of Buildings is hereby created which office may be cited as the Building Official and is hereinafter referred to as the Building Official in this Building Code. (Ord. 61-20. Passed 5-16-61; Ord. 2015-36. Passed 9-8-15.)
(b) The Mayor shall appoint subject to confirmation of Council, a Building Official who shall be a resident of any incorporated or unincorporated area within the State, who shall have had at least five years experience in at least two of the building trades and is capable of interpreting plans and specifications, and who shall hold his office until the expiration of the term of the Mayor appointing him, and until his successor is duly appointed and qualified. He shall be removable from office at any time by the Mayor for just cause. Before entering upon his office, the Building Official shall take an oath to faithfully and impartially perform the duties of his office. (Ord. 66- 9. Passed 3-8-66; Ord. 2015-36. Passed 9-8-15.)
