(A) A fire watch must be established during special events where there is a great potential for fire or life safety hazards or in the event of a fire alarm and/or sprinkler system becomes non-monitored and/or unprotected due to system failure or malfunction.
(B) In the event of a fire alarm and/or sprinkler system becomes non-monitored and/or unprotected due to system failure or malfunction for a period exceeding 12 hours, a fire watch must be provided.
(1) The fire watch shall be staffed with no less than three off-duty and certified town staff members and one UL Certified Class A Pumper.
(2) The fire watch staff shall be composed of a fire officer, engineer and firefighter.
(3) The responsible party shall be billed for the fire watch in accordance with the town’s fee schedule.
(4) A fire watch composed of firefighter from outside the town’s authority and jurisdiction is not permitted.
(C) In the event a fire alarm and/or sprinkler system becomes non-monitored and/or unprotected due to system failure or malfunction for a period not exceeding 12 hours, a fire watch may be performed by the responsible party.
(1) The responsible party must inspect the facility hourly for signs of fire.
(2) The responsible party must document each inspection and note all findings.
(3) The responsible party shall immediately notify 911 of any signs of smoke or fire and transfer all information to arriving fire department personnel.
(D) Medical coverage must be established during special events where there is a great potential for life safety hazards.
(1) Medical coverage shall be staffed with no less than one off-duty and certified Town of Shallotte Emergency Medical Technician.
(2) The responsible party shall be billed for the medical coverage in accordance with the town’s fee schedule.
(3) Brunswick County EMS may provide medical coverage otherwise, medical coverage composed of emergency medical technicians from outside the town’s authority and jurisdiction is not permitted.
