Effective January 1, 2006, upon recommendation of the Town Administrator, the Board of Aldermen shall have the duty of hiring persons, including the Chief of Police, as may be necessary to man the police force of the town and to provide the town with adequate police protection. The Board of Aldermen designates that the Chief of Police, upon approval of the Town Administrator, shall act on its behalf to hire members of the Police Department for positions that the Board of Aldermen has previously budgeted in the current fiscal year budget. Members of the Police Department shall be discharged and disciplined as set forth in the personnel policies of the town.
