§ 53.02  GENERAL EXTENSION REQUIREMENTS.
   All extensions of either water or sanitary sewer service shall be governed by the following.
   (A)   The minimum distance for any extension of water main or sanitary sewer main shall be determined by the Director of Public Works with approval from the Town Administrator.  In general, the minimum distance for extensions shall be one block.
   (B)   The size of water mains and sanitary sewer mains to be installed and the other required system facilities shall be determined by the Board of Aldermen in accordance with the recognized standards and accepted engineering practices and design and in accordance with applicable system plans adopted by the Board of Aldermen.
   (C)   All plans for water line improvements shall provide for fire hydrants.  Hydrants shall be at intervals of not more than 800 feet, such that any existing structure within 300 feet of the water main will be within 400 feet of a hydrant.
   (D)   After water lines/mains and fire hydrants and/or sewer lines/mains have been constructed, the applicant/developer must submit an engineer’s certificate that the water lines/mains and fire hydrants and/or sewer lines/mains have been constructed in accordance with the specifications required by the town, together with as-built Mylar plans and a digital Autocad file of the water lines/mains and fire hydrants and/or sewer lines/mains.  Applicant/developer shall submit to the town the actual cost of materials and labor for any new installations before the lines may be approved for use.  After the same have been tested  and properly dedicated to the town, the town shall own and operate the lines/mains and fire hydrants.
