141.02 PURCHASING AGENT.

   There is created the office of Purchasing Agent, who shall have all the powers provided for the Purchasing Agent and shall exercise them under the direction of the Director of Purchases. The compensation shall be such as may be fixed from time to time by Council. The Purchasing Agent, under the direction of the Director of Purchases, shall be responsible for the purchase of all supplies and material required for use of any officer or department of the City, except in case of contracts for public improvements. The head of any department for which supplies or material are required shall notify the Purchasing Agent of such requirements and the Purchasing Agent shall promptly make the necessary purchase, if funds are available therefor.
