1101.35 SCHOOL OR CAMP BUS.
"School or camp bus" means every motor vehicle designed to carry twelve (12) or more adult passengers which is operated principally for the transportation of children to or from a school session, a school function, day camp and any other school or camping functions; and which is marked on both front and rear with the words "SCHOOL BUS" or "CAMP BUS" in plain black lettering not less than six (6) inches in height, and which is equipped with four (4) warning lights with red lenses, two (2) in front and two (2) in the rear, meeting the specifications of the Ohio State Department of Education, and which is painted national school bus chrome, according to the National Bureau of Standard's specification, except that the fenders, lettering and body trim, if used, shall be black.
"School bus" does not include a van or bus used by a licensed child day-care center or type A family day-care home to transport children from the child day-care center or type A family day-care home to a school if the van or bus does not have more than fifteen children in the van or bus at any time. "Child day-care center" and "type A family day-care home" have the same meanings as in Ohio R.C. 5104.01. (ORC 4511.01(F), (FFF))
