§ 97.20 WILD ANIMALS.
   (A)   Keeping wild animals.
      (1)   No person shall keep or permit to be kept on his or her premises any wild or vicious animal for any purpose, except as provided in division (B).
      (2)   This section shall not be construed to apply to zoological parks, circuses, performing animal exhibitions, or research laboratories.
   (B)   Exceptions.
      (1)   Any person owning a wild animal prior to the enactment of this chapter shall be permitted to continue ownership of the animal; provided, that he or she registers the animal with the conservation officer within six weeks after enactment of this chapter.
      (2)   A copy of this registration must be kept by the owner as evidence of possession of the animal prior to the enactment of this chapter.
