135.05 COMPENSATION FOR POLICE CHIEF INJURED IN THE LINE OF DUTY.
The Police Chief who is disabled as a result of an injury suffered in the line of his or her official duty as a full-time employee of the City, if such disability prevents him or her from performing his or her duties, shall be paid his or her regular compensation during the continuance of such service-related disability, but for a period not to exceed 180 work days from the date such service-related disability was incurred providing he files for Workers Compensation and signs a waiver assigning to the Employer those sums of money (temporary total benefits) he would ordinarily receive as his weekly compensation as determined by law for those number of weeks he receives benefits. A Certificate of the Attending Physician or surgeon certifying to the service related disability and the cause thereof shall be filed with the Safety Director/ Mayor or his designee before the last day of each week in which such disability occurred or continues. An employee receiving disability leave must, as a condition therefore, submit to a physical or physicals by a physician or surgeon chosen by the Employer at any reasonable time. (Ord. 62- 1996.
