966(C).022 ELDERLY CARE FACILITY DEFINED.
   For the purposes of this chapter, an elderly care facility is a facility providing both a residence and a care or living-assistance component, and includes adult congregate living facilities (ACLF), group care homes, and other similar assisted-living residential environments. An elderly care facility serves as a substitute for the residents' own home. Elderly care facilities furnish facilities, amenities, and comforts normally found in a home, some of which may be provided in common to other facility residents, including food preparation, dining and housekeeping, medical, social, and recreational services, or other services, equipment, and safety features required for the safe and adequate care of the elderly. Services to residential care facility residents may include other forms of assistance including without limitation:
   (a)    Supervision and assistance in dressing, bathing, and in the maintenance of good personal hygiene;
   (b)    Care in emergencies or during temporary illness;
   (c)    Supervision in the taking of medications; and
   (d)    Other services conducive to the residents' welfare or designed to address specific conditions (e.g., Alzheimer's disease, memory impairment, etc.) bearing on the residents' safety or welfare.
