148.064 LIFEGUARD.
   (a)   Establishment. There is hereby established the position of Lifeguard, which is a part time position, reporting directly to the Aquatics Supervisor. The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of those in the natatorium through preventative measures and to respond to emergencies as trained.
   (b)   Required Qualifications of the Lifeguard.
      (1)    Current American Red Cross Lifeguard & First Aid Training.
      (2)    Current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and AED Essentials.
      (3)    Pre-employment testing of Lifeguard skills and knowledge.
      (4)    Maintain current knowledge of emergency procedures including blood borne pathogens
      (5)    Thorough knowledge and application of Lifeguard scanning, preventative guarding and rescue techniques.
      (6)    Understanding of aquatic facility rules, policies and procedures all acknowledged by signing the Aquatic Manual.
   (c)   Responsibilities.
      (1)   Enforce all facility policies, rules and regulations to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
      (2)    Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies.
      (3)    Inspect facility throughout shift and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to Aquatics Supervisor.
      (4)    Complete records and reports as required on a daily basis.
      (5)    Participate in all in-service training sessions.
      (6)    Keep first aid kits on guard chairs and first aid office properly stocked and supplied at all times.
      (7)    Rescue Tube must be on your person at all times.
      (8)    Update certifications as required and supply Aquatics Supervisor with updated cards annually.
      (9)    Keep natatorium area clean and in order by working with Maintenance when necessary.
      (10)    Act as Head Guard as assigned per shift, making sure readings are taken, guards follow procedures and making judgment calls when necessary if a manager is unavailable.
      (11)    Complete schedule request forms on time and follow posted work schedule.
      (12)    Be prepared with correct information to answer questions of patrons regarding the pool and the entire facility.
      (13)    Adhere to daily cleaning and maintenance schedule.
      (14)    Any other duties as assigned by Aquatics Supervisor, Recreation Director and Administrative Staff.
   (d)   Hourly Compensation Range for the Lifeguard.
   Minimum Wage - $18.00 / hour
