148.06 AQUATICS SUPERVISOR.
          (a)    Establishment. There is hereby established the position of Aquatics Supervisor. The Aquatics Supervisor is a supervisory position responsible for all aspects of the overall operation of the aquatic facilities. The Aquatics Supervisor is a part time hourly position reporting directly to the Recreation and Parks Director. The hours and days will be flexible and will change from time to time to meet the needs of the Complex and ensure its smooth, safe and professional management.
(b)    General Statement of Duties. The Aquatics Supervisor is a supervisory position responsible for all aspects of the overall operation of the aquatic facilities.
(c)    Requirements. An extensive knowledge of aquatics, pool maintenance, water quality, pool filtration systems and programming are necessary. A solid background in aquatic facilities operations is preferred, together with the following.
      (1)    Certification in Lifeguarding, First Aid, Water Safety Instruction (WSI), Certified Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) are mandatory
      (2)    Current Pool Operators (CPO) certification preferred
      (3)    Experience in training and scheduling Lifeguards is required.
      (4)    Experience in working with and directing people.
      (5)    Must be organized and demonstrate ability to plan and follow through.
      (6)    Physical ability to rescue an individual from the water.
      (7)    Willingness to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings.
      (8)    Experience in aquatic budget preparation.
      (9)    Modern knowledge of philosophies, principles, methods and practices used in coordinating recreational services that include facilities and diverse programs for patrons of all ages and abilities.
      (10)    At least a two-year degree, four-year degree preferred, in Recreation, Education, Health Promotion, Management or related field or a combination of education and experience.
       (11)    Requires the exercise and use of independent judgment not merely of a routine or clerical nature.
      (12)    Computer proficiency should included but not be limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, Recreation Software.
      (13)    Capable of working Front Desk and or other departments when necessary.
   (d)    Duties of the Aquatics Supervisor.
      (1)    Budget Development. The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible, with input from the Recreation and Parks Director, for the development of an annual aquatics budget of anticipated income and expenditures. Maintain control of income/expenses of aquatic budget.
      (2)    Program Development. Develop, implement, schedule and evaluate aquatic programs for participants of all ages and abilities from learn to swim programs to advanced lessons, Aquatic exercise and competitive swimming.
      (3)    Facility Management. Responsible for management of sauna, pool / hot tub filtration system and water chemistry to ensure water quality meets or exceeds standards mandated by the Ohio Department of Health and Cuyahoga County Board of Health. Obtaining yearly Swimming Pool / Hot Tub License from CCBOH.
      (4)    Records & Reports. Maintains Records and reports for aquatics facility.
      (5)    Manuals. Devise Emergency Action Plans and Aquatics Staff Manuals for natatorium area.
      (6)    Pool Safety. Establish and implement safety guidelines for aquatic staff to ensure a safe and healthy environment. Enforce rules and regulations to patrons as well.
      (7)    Purchasing. Responsible for purchasing aquatic supplies and inventorying.
      (8)    Staffing. Conduct interviews, hire, develop growth opportunities, counsel, evaluate, reward or discipline aquatic personnel.
      (9)    Payroll. Monitor hours and verify payroll of all aquatic support staff.
      (10)    Manager on Duty. Work hours, as scheduled as the Manager on Duty, to maintain a safe and healthy environment throughout the entire complex. Oversees the management of all part-time employees throughout the facility
      (11)    Customer Service. Handle all suggestions, comments and complaints of aquatic facility users.
      (13)    Key Performance Measures. With input from the Recreation Director, develop quantifiable key goals for the aquatics department on a quarterly basis.
      (14)    Training. Identify American Red Cross training needs for all staff, and methods to meet these needs. Establish in-service training schedule for aquatics staff.
      (15)    Pool Cleanliness. Develop a schedule of housekeeping duties for aquatics staff to maintain pool area cleanliness.
      (16)    Risk Management. Develop comprehensive Risk management plan as it pertains to the pool area and those in the pool area.
      (17)    Marketing. Coordinates and markets specific programs and events
      (18)    Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation and Parks Director or Assistant Recreation and Parks Director.
   (e)    Other Tasks of the Aquatics Supervisor.
      (1)    Prepares proposals and bids designed to improve operations, increase efficiency and provide quality facilities, services and programs.
      (2)    Prepares monthly and yearly reports submitted to the Recreation and Parks Director
      (3)    Attends seminars, workshops and conferences to gain knowledge to further upgrade programs and operations
      (4)    Prepare Aquatics Programming for entire year - get information for the brochure together and submit to Assistant Director
      (5)    Enter Aquatics Programming into Sportsman
      (6)    Develop and distribute Program / Informational Flyers
      (7)    Dangerous Chemical Handling Procedures - develop and educate others about the uses and regulations regarding hazardous chemicals.
   (f)   Hourly Compensation Range for the Aquatics Supervisor:
$13.00 - $28.00 per hour
