SECTION III-1. COMPOSITION AND TERM.
The legislative powers of the City of Seven Hills, except as otherwise provided by this Charter and the Constitution of the State of Ohio, shall be vested in Council of seven (7) members, three (3) of whom shall be elected by the people at large for a term of two (2) years at the regular Municipal election in 1967, and every two (2) years thereafter. Four (4) Councilpersons shall be elected from wards, one (1) from each of the four (4) wards. The four (4) Councilpersons from the wards shall be elected for a term of two (2) years at the regular Municipal election in 1967, and every two (2) years thereafter. Beginning with the regular Municipal election in 1987, and every Municipal election thereafter, the newly elected Councilpersons shall take the oath of office and assume the duties of their respective office on December 10th, or within five (5) days after the Board of Elections has certified their election, whichever comes later, and they shall serve until their successors are elected and qualified.
Counting Council terms beginning December 10, 2019, no Seven Hills Council member shall serve more than four (4) two (2) year terms as a Ward Council member, an At-Large Council member, or a combination thereof. One full term or more must lapse before a Councilperson may be a candidate for Council office once he has served eight consecutive years.
Any person appointed or having been appointed to an office to fill a vacancy that may occur or has occurred in the past, upon completion of that term, will be considered as having served the entire term in order to compute total years. (Amended 11-6-18)
