993.02 RESIDENCE DISTRICTS, SIDE YARDS.
   (a)    In a Residence District, other than multiple dwellings, each main building shall have a yard along each side lot line. No dwelling house shall be erected less than fifteen feet from any other building in a Residence District.
   (b)    In a Residence District, other than multiple dwellings, no interior side yard, on the side on which a garage is located, shall be less in width than five feet at any point, and the interior side yard of the other side of the dwelling house shall be not less than ten feet at any point; provided, however, that where circumstances and the location of existing structures make it practical to do so, the Building Commissioner may authorize the reverse of this arrangement, i.e. ten feet on the garage side and five feet on the other side.
   (c)    In a Residence District the half width of an alley abutting the side line of a lot may be considered as part of the yard required on that side.

   (d)    (EDITOR'S NOTE: The provisions of this subsection were repealed by Ordinance 38-1967, passed December 11, 1967. See Chapter 997 for provisions re fences. )
   (e)    In all existing and new subdivisions in a Residence District submitted for approval, no interior side yard shall be less in width than ten feet from the property line at any point along such interior side yard, except that chimneys shall be allowed to project into such side yard setoff not more than twenty-four inches. This subsection shall not be applicable to subdivisions now approved by Council and the provisions of subsection (b) hereof shall be applicable thereto.
