8-3-6: DISCONNECTION OF SERVICE AND ADDITIONAL LATE PAYMENT PENALTY:
If the rates or charges for such service are not paid within thirty (30) days after rendition of the bill for such services, or upon a violation of any rule, regulation or provision contained in this chapter, the village collector or attorney is hereby authorized and directed to notify in writing the owner of the premises, the occupant thereof, and the user of the service that such delinquency or violation exists and that service shall be discontinued. Such notice shall be given at least fifteen (15) days prior to the discontinuation of service and shall state the amount of any delinquency or shall state the rule, regulation or provision of this chapter deemed to be in violation; said notice shall further state that if the delinquency or violation is not cured or paid within fifteen (15) days, there will be an additional late charge of twenty five dollars ($25.00), and the service shall be discontinued. The twenty five dollar ($25.00) late fee shall apply whether or not the service is discontinued. If the owner, or occupant or user of the service disputes the alleged violation or delinquency, they may within said fifteen (15) day period request a consultation with the commissioner of the department of public property or the village council. The decision of the commissioner of the department of public property or the council shall be final. Reconnection shall be made as long as all delinquent amounts are paid, and upon the cessation of all violations of this chapter. (Ord. 12-17, 11-6-2012)
