For the purposes of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning:
GOLF CART. A vehicle designed for transportation while playing the game of golf. A golf cart is not required to meet the vehicle safety requirements of a low-speed vehicle for approval under this section.

The Michigan Vehicle Code, Public Act 300 of 1949, being M.C.L. § 257.657a, as amended, is adopted by reference with the following exception:
M.C.L. § 257.657a(16) shall read:
A golf cart shall only be operated on a state trunk line highway or the streets of a city, village, or township during the time period from ½ hour before sunset to 1/2 hour after sunrise provided the golf cart has working headlamps and tail lamps. (Reference M.C.L. § 257.657a(21)(a)(b)).

Any person who violates this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be subject to the penalties set forth in § 10.99 of this code.
