A proposed street that is substantially in alignment with an existing named street shall bear the name of the existing street. With such exception, no street shall bear the name of any existing street that has been dedicated to public use; and this prohibition shall apply to the substitution of the word “street”, “avenue”, “boulevard”, “drive”, “place”, or “court”, or of a like word, for a word contained in the name of an existing street.
