§ 6-6-2 BUILDING PERMIT.
   (A)   Fees. The fees for a permit for the construction or alteration of a building or structure, and for an incidental certificate of occupancy shall be as follows:

   (B)   Definitions.
      (1)   Any term used in this section which is defined in Chapter 25, Article 2 of this code shall, for the purpose of this section, bear the meaning assigned to it in Chapter 25, Article 2 of this code.
      (2)   As used in this section, the following terms have the following meaning.
         COMMERCIAL. Any construction for a use other than a single- or two-family dwelling, or a use accessory to a single- or two-family dwelling.
         COST. The estimated cost of construction determined as provided elsewhere in this section.
         EXCESS. The estimated cost in excess of $1,000.
   (C)   Determination of cost. For the purposes of this section, the estimated cost of construction shall be calculated as follows.
      (1)   For commercial construction: $150 per square foot of improvement.
      (2)   For one- and two-family dwellings: $150 per square foot of improvement.
      (3)   For detached garages: $15 per square foot of improvement.
      (4)   For fences, roof repair or replacement, carports, and sheds of a size less than 200 square feet, and for the removal of a building or structure, the reasonable, good faith estimate of the applicant for the permit.
