§ 2-3-1 LICENSE; LICENSE TAX; VACCINATION; REQUIRED; EXCEPTIONS.
   (A)   It shall be unlawful for any person to own in the city a mini-pig that is seven months of age or older, or a dog or cat that is four months of age or older without:
      (1)   Having procured a license therefor and paid a license tax thereon as provided in this chapter;
      (2)   In the case of a dog, having procured vaccination of the dog against rabies as provided in this chapter; and
      (3)   In the case of a mini-pig, having procured the spaying or neutering of the animal.
   (B)   Provided, the provisions of this section shall not apply to any animal owned by a person temporarily remaining within the state for less than 30 days, to any dog brought into the state for field trial or show purposes, to any dog brought into the state for hunting purposes for a period of less than 30 days, or to animals assigned to a research institution or similar facility.
