An ITINERANT MERCHANT is any person exposing for sale goods or wares, but such person who is not a regular merchant in the county at a location in a building or on the street for less than six months a year. No license shall be issued nor itinerant merchant sales or activities shall be permitted in the B-1 Downtown Business District; B-2 Highway Business District; or any residential district as shown on the town’s Official Zoning Map. Not intended in this provision are civic or church organizations, who wish to conduct outdoor sales limited to no more than two consecutive days and no more than twice per calendar year while such activity is located in the B-1 Central Business District. Such organization must apply for a temporary permit by written request on the organization’s letterhead outlining its plans. The sale of locally grown farm products by portable means is exempt from this provision.
