§ 150.209 WHEN METAL CONDUITS ARE REQUIRED.
   (A)   Rigid metal conduits shall be used on all outside work.
      (1)   Rigid metal conduits or electrical metallic tubing shall be used on all new work, either concealed or exposed, other than a three-feet allowance on motors and six feet on fixtures of the concealed type; this shall be of flexible metal conduit or Seal-tite.
      (2)   Rigid metal conduit or electrical metallic tubing shall be used on all exposed revised work.
      (3)   All exposed knob and tube open wiring on insulators, mineral insulating cable, mineral insulated sheathed metal cable, armored cable, nonmetallic sheathed cable and flexible metal conduit shall be replaced by either rigid metal conduit or electrical metallic tubing. With allowance of three feet for motors and five feet for fixtures of the concealed type, this shall be run with flexible metal conduit.
   (B)   Rigid metal conduit, electrical metallic tubing, flexible metal conduit and armored cable shall be used for enclosed revised work.
      (1)   All enclosed work being revised may remain other than open wiring on insulators and knob and tube.
      (2)   Any Alterations to old structures shall be termed as new construction. This is superseded only by National Electrical Code, Art. 346-1. The materials specified in this section shall be installed in compliance with the provisions of the applicable sections of the National Electrical Code, Art. 300.
