In addition to a bond, all contractors and subcontractors licensed in the Village shall be required to maintain, at all times such license is in effect, general liability insurance coverage and worker's compensation insurance coverage. Evidence of such insurance must be filed with the Village and shall be updated periodically upon request. This, however, does not apply to any contractor who is protected by The Private Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, Fingerprint Vendor, and Locksmith Act of 2004 (225 ILCS 447/5 et seq.) ("the Act"). Contractors falling under the protection of this act will be regulated only by the State of Illinois and required only to provide a copy of their State License number to the Village of Schiller Park to comply with Village Permit Applications. Otherwise, for those contractors not covered by the Act, the bond shall be in such a form as approved by the Village and shall be issued by a company duly authorized by law to issue such bonds in Illinois.
The insurance shall have the following limits for all contractors (except those protected by the Act): general liability insurance coverage of one million dollars ($1,000,000.00) per occurrence, personal injury coverage of two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000.00) per person, property damage coverage of two hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($250,000.00) per occurrence for general contractors and one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) per occurrence for subcontractors and workers compensation insurance in an amount in accordance with current state statute. Such insurance shall include a provision that it cannot be revoked, modified or not renewed by the company issuing the bond without at least thirty (30) days prior written notice to the Village. In the event such insurance coverage is not maintained, the license and/or permit shall be revoked.
