§ 32.162 MATERNITY LEAVE.
   (A)   Maternity leave shall be treated as any other illness. Leave granted for maternity purposes shall be allowed on the same basis for which sick leave or Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) without pay is granted. Paid sick leave or FMLA leave without pay is available to cover the time for the pregnant employee’s physical examinations and periods of incapacitation.
   (B)   (1)   Employees who have exhausted all accumulated sick leave shall be granted Family and Medical Leave (FMLA) without pay for maternity purposes.
      (2)   Employees desiring extended leave due to pregnancy disability shall receive it on the same basis as any other disability, as defined in § 32.200(C)(4).
