Private service lines may be placed in the same trench with private sewers upon obtaining permission from the Chief Foreman of Water Distribution. Where permission is granted, the water line must be put on a shelf at least 12 inches wide out into the side of the trench, and the trenches shall not be backfilled until the work has been inspected and approved by an authorized employee of the Divisions of Water Distribution.
