A. This chapter is enacted for the purpose of increasing the efficiency of emergency service providers within the city. It provides that the city may collect fees for emergency responses to false alarms as established by the city council by ordinance. This chapter provides specific regulations for alarm companies and alarm users. This chapter is to encourage owners and fire and security alarm businesses to properly use and maintain the operational effectiveness of fire and security alarm systems in order to improve the reliability of fire and security alarm systems and reduce or eliminate false fire and security alarms and nuisance fire and security alarms.
B. This chapter governs fire and security alarm systems intended to summon fire and law enforcement department personnel, and requires registration, assessment of fees for excessive false fire and security alarms and nuisance fire and/or security alarms, and provides procedures for repeat offenders.
