§ 93.02 YARD AND GARAGE SALES.
   (A)   It shall be unlawful for any person within the village limits to conduct a sale upon land of any residence commonly referred to as a yard sale or garage sale when the same is not in accordance with the zoning regulations of this village and not located in a commercial zone without first obtaining from the Chief of Police a permit for conducting such a sale.
   (B)   The Chief of Police is hereby authorized to issue one permit per year for each household in such residential districts for a period of time not to exceed three days. There shall be no charge for the issuance of such permit, but a record shall be maintained as to the date and name of such application in order to assure compliance with the restriction of only one sale per year.
   (C)   No sign shall be erected by any person advertising or directing the attention to such sales except on the property where such sale is being conducted. Any person erecting such sign or notice on public or private property off the premises in question shall be subject to a fine of an amount as set forth in § 35.01 per sign improperly posted. No signs shall remain at any location more than 24 hours after the expiration of the issued permit.
   (D)   This section shall become effective November 1, 1983 and no previous sales on any premises shall be considered as prohibiting the issuance of a permit after that date.
