Provisions governing the subdivision of land within the city are hereby established to promote the public health, safety, and general welfare; and to further the orderly layout and use of land. These regulations provide for certain minimum design standards and the provision of improvements, such as pavements, sewers, sidewalks, street signs, street trees, and water mains. They also pertain to the making, approving, filing and recording of plats; and any person who shall hereafter subdivide any lands shall make and record a plat thereof in accordance with this chapter and city departmental regulations.
