§ 134.01 DEFACING MOTOR OR SERIAL NUMBERS.
   (A)   It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, copartnership, or corporation to conceal or misrepresent the identity of any motor, household appliance, or mechanical device by:
      (1)   Removing or defacing the manufacturer’s serial or motor number; or
      (2)   Altering or replacing any part of such motor, appliance, or mechanical device bearing the serial or motor number with a new or replaced part upon which the proper serial or motor number has not been stamped or placed.
   (B)   In all prosecutions under this section, possession by any dealer, distributor, wholesaler, or person, firm, copartnership or corporation in the business of buying and selling of any motor, appliance, or mechanical device with the manufacturer’s serial or motor number removed, defaced, or altered, or with a part bearing such number replaced by one on which the proper number does not appear, shall be prima facie evidence of violation of the provisions of this section.
