§ 35.01 INTENT AND PURPOSE.
   (A)   It is the intent and purpose of this subchapter to provide for the planning, mitigation, response, and recovery from natural and human-made disasters within the city by being part of the Saginaw County emergency management program; to appoint the County Emergency Management Coordinator as the city’s Emergency Management Coordinator; to provide a means for coordinating the resources of the municipality with those of the county; to appoint a city liaison to work with the Emergency Management Coordinator; and to provide a means through which the City Council may exercise the authority and discharge the responsibilities vested in it by this subchapter and the Emergency Management Act, Public Act 390 of 1976, being M.C.L. §§ 30.401 et seq., as amended.
   (B)   This subchapter does not relieve any elected officials or municipal departments of the normal responsibilities or authority given by general law or local ordinance.
