§ 32.16 STREET NUMBERS.
   (A)   The principal building on each premises fronting on a city street shall bear a distinctive street number in accordance with the revised Street Numbering Map on file in the office of the City Engineer, which Map is hereby adopted and made a part hereof. The Chief Inspector of the Division of Permits and Inspections of the Department of Engineering of the city shall designate in accordance with said Map the appropriate street number for each new building hereafter constructed, which shall require such number, upon issuance of the building permit therefor.
   (B)   No owner shall fail to place and maintain the correct number upon the front of each building requiring such number, which said number shall face the street and be adjacent to the principal entrance and in such position as to be plainly visible from the street. Numbers shall be not less than three inches in height and shall contrast in color with the color of the building or background to which they are attached.
   (C)   As additional streets are established by platting or otherwise and as existing streets are altered, it shall be the duty of the City Engineer to add the same to the Street Numbering Map or to revise the same and to assign to the various blocks and parts of said streets appropriate numbers in accordance with the existing street numbering plan established by said Map.
